1Does the Institution have all approvals and accreditations?
DCSMAT is ISO 9001-2015 Certified, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
2What about the University affiliation?
DCSMAT Vagamon campus is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and that of Trivandrum Campus is affiliated to University of Kerala
3What is the minimum eligibility criteria for applying to MBA Admission ?
The eligibility part for an MBA aspirant consists of two aspects should have secured minimum 50% marks in aggregate in any graduation. However students in final year and whose final exams are due are also eligible to apply with a condition to submit their final mark lists and certificates before University registration date.
Should qualify with minimum 15% marks in any of the aptitude test viz. CAT/CMAT/KMAT-Kerala. Students planning to appear in above tests in respective year of eligibility can also submit applications and submit their score cards before closing of the admission date.
Note. Relaxations in minimum entry level marks and aptitude test score are applicable for reserved category students as per Govt/University norms.
4Is MAT an acceptable score?
Aptitude test MAT conducted by All Indian Management Association (AIMA) is currently not included as an eligible test score for MBA admission.
5How should I apply to DCSMAT?
The application process is through online only. Students have to log in to www.dcsmat.ac.in and submit their application online. Shortlisted applicants will have to appear either in GD/PI at select locations or through online mode.
6How do I come to know about the venue and dates of GD / PI?
Applied and shortlisted students will get a communication to this effect directly from College Admissions Office. The details will be also be available on college web site.
7How to apply for DCSMAT when the final semester certificates have not yet been received?
Final year students can apply for DCSMAT with their KMAT Score cards. Once they receive the final year certificates, they can submit the same in the DCSMAT office.
8What is the basis for selection of a candidate?
The students need to apply online, fill the application form. Group Discussion, Personal Interview shall be conducted, and the aspirants will be selected on the basis of their scores in Group Discussion/Personal Interview and CAT/CMAT/KMAT score.
9How can I find out if I am selected for the course?
You shall receive a letter from DCSMAT/DCSAD. Details about the hostel, orientation and the steps you need to take in order to prepare for your studies will be enclosed with your college admission information letter.
10Where is DCSMAT located in Vagamon?
DCSMAT is located next to Pullikkanam tea estate and is about 9 kms from Vagamon towards Moolamattom side. Distances to Pullikkanam : From Moolamatom- 13 Kms, Thodupuzha – 35kms, Eerattupetta – 35kms & Elappara – 30Kms
11Where is DCSMAT Trivandrum located?
DCSMAT Trivandrum is located inside the 70 acre Kinfra Film and Video Park in Kazhakoottam on new MC Road Bypass and is adjacent to Sainik School Kazhakoottam. The distance from Trivandrum Central is 22 kms, from Airport – 18 kms and from Thampanoor Central Bus Stand is – 22 kms. The nearest rail head is Kazhakoottam
12Which campus is better, Trivandrum or Vagamon?
Both are unique in their own respects. Vagamon campus is surrounded by lush green plantations, 1100 mtrs above the sea level and is a self contained and secured campus away from the perils of a city life but well connected to nearby towns by road. Vagamon campus is a fully residential campus where faculty, staff and students stay together.
Trivandrum campus is in Kinfra film and Video Park in Kazhakoottam near to Technopark in Trivandrum city. Being close to Technopark, ample opportunities exist for industry interaction and internships.
13What is the daily schedule like?
In Vagamon, classes are scheduled well in advance and a typical working day starts at 8.00 AM and ends by 8.00 PM. Depending on various cultural/club/guest interactions, regular intervals and rest periods are catered to the students. In Trivandrum Campus day scholar campus timings are followed
14What pedagogy of teaching is followed in DCSMAT?
A blend of case methods, student centered learning and project centered learning aimed at building competences for easy entry into the corporate life.
15What specializations are available for me?
In both campus, we offer dual specializations in MBA. Specialisations available under MG University are : Finance, Marketing, Information technology, Human resource management, Operations management, International Business. Media Management, Logistics are additions in Trivandrum Campus under University of Kerala.
Please note that specialization offered will depend on minimum number / percentage of students opting for a particular specialization, at the time of exercising their choice.
16When will the specialization to be decided?
Towards the end of the first year, after you have gained some exposure to all areas. Guidance and counseling will be provided towards the completion of the first year.
17What are the values added courses provided in DCSMAT?
Training in IBM software relevant for business / training in SAP / excel training / tally / Project Management / fine dining and other courses which make the MBA more industry relevant is provided over and above the curriculum. Other add on courses are offered, depending on the industry needs.
18How experienced and expertise are the faculty members?
Industry experience along with academic experience with continuous training and development through FDPs at IIMs and other prominent institutions makes our faculty fit for handling management courses.
Qualifications and expertise is always above the industry benchmark and university requirements.
We have large number of Doctorates, large number of IIM trained faculty members and largest number of AIMA accredited faculty pool
19Is mobile services available in the campuses? Who are the different mobile service providers? What are the recharge options?
Mobile connectivity of all service providers are available both in Trivandrum and Vagamon campuses. Recharge facility is available in the mini super market within Vagamon campus and in the nearby shops in Kazhakoottam.
20Is Wi-Fi available in the campuses?
The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled with 100 mbps connectivity throughout academic and residential areas.
The ubiquitous Wi-Fi gives full support of the student online needs wherever they are in the campus.
The connectivity also provides recreational avenues such as online games, movies and music. The facilities are also extended to all recreational clubs.
21What is the IT support available in the campuses?
DCSMAT uses internet and intranet extensively for all course management; conduct of classes, assignments, feedbacks, online quizzes as well as for projects and research.
It also uses internet for staying connected with alumni, partners, parents, students and faculty.
It is also used for complaint management in the campus. The resources are used extensively for research by students and faculty.
DCSMAT is having an Intranet which is hosted inside for the community.
The URL of the DCSMAT Intranet is (http://cms.dcschool.net). Intranet is having links to various IT applications/services available in the campus.
The Institute is having high speed Internet access with 100 MBPS leased line connection for the use of the entire community. The Campus has very good network connectivity with Fiber Optics ‘back bone’, IG switches and Campus wide Wi-Fi coverage.
DCSMAT provide 24X7 Internet access to all students and faculty through the Wi-Fi and connected LAN wherever available.
The learning Platform Moodle is being used extensively for the course management.
22Does the College have video conferencing facilities?
The B-School is having a high-end Video conference facility with 2 large LCD displays and 2 high definition cameras. This facility was first installed in 2010.
The video conference facility is available to faculty and students at their disposal whenever it is needed.
The college is using this system for International talks and sessions, regional collaborations with other B-Schools. The recent sessions by Prof. William J Baumol of Stern School of Business, New York University and Prof. Arpita Srivastava, (Prof. of marketing) from XLRI Jamshedpur are the examples. This facility is also used for placement interviews with companies.
The students and faculty are using system for external linkages and cooperation.
23What are the Classroom facilities like?
DCSMAT takes pride in implementing the latest teaching-learning methods and using the modern teaching aids and tools such as E-boards, interactive video conferencing, E-journals, Streaming videos etc.
The class rooms are well-furnished with latest technology to aid lecturing and presentation.
Most of the academic related activities in the campus are technology driven and as a result the learning experience of students is greatly enhanced.
All the classes are provided with computers, mounted LCD projectors, wide screens, sound systems, video coverage and interactive electronic boards.
Fully furnished computer labs as per mandatory specifications are available to the students for the conduct of the IT related classes.
24How well equipped is the library?
DCSMAT has a well equipped library in both Trivandrum and Vagamon campuses and library staff is well qualified and trained. We have at present 38,043 textbooks issued 26,025 reference books, 531 journals, 39000 e-journals, 5 relevant databases and 440 multimedia content.
Library uses efficient software and all major newspapers are available daily in the library. Economic Times and Business line are subscribed by students at subsidized rates
The library promotes Open Access System by which students have direct access to all the resources available in the library. After consulting the catalogue the students can directly go to the shelves and browse the collection for their needed copies.
The library has got 90 seats with separate carrels for reading and research. In each floor the library provides UPS supply for connecting student laptops and also Wi-Fi facility for Internet.
DCSMAT Trivandrum also has similar facilities, with extended working hours.
25What is the placement activity in the campus like?
A high-quality placement brochure is prepared every year by the students.
There is a Director and also Manager of ‘Corporate Relations and Alumni Affairs’ assisted by a core committee of Faculty members to optimize the placement drive.
The Students Placement Committee is also formed to manage the day to day affairs of corporate relations.
The students travel with the brochures to various companies to canvass for placements. The soft copies and letters are dispatched to prospective recruiters.
Students also visit companies to give presentation. To cite an example Synthite and Godrej.
26Are students provided with specific placement related training?
Yes. DCSMAT lays lot of emphasis on this aspect.
ABS, is a unique internal soft skill development programme that caters to the students’ need of personality development,
communication skills, interpersonal skills, Group Discussions and Personal Interview skills. Gallop is another similar programme. These are part of the first and second semesters.
In the second yesr, professional trainers such as Le Mentors of Chennai, Sarvasreshta from Chennai, Dilip Toshar from Pune, Biju Vithayathil from Ernakulam etc , are engaged every year to enhance the employment skills of the students to include Group Discussion, Resume Preparation, Decision Modelling, Situational Leadership, Logical Reasoning, Neuro Linguistic Programme ( communication) etc..
Fine dining sessions are also provided to teach the students the required rudiments of etiquette and table manners by reputed hospitality providers such as Eaatz Dietary in collaboration with renowned chefs
27Which are the companies who have recruited from DCSMAT, so far?

28What are the different modes of transportation available to Vagamon campus?
Vagamon campus is well connected through state transport bus services from Ernakulam, Thodupuzha, Moolamattom, Kottayam, Pala, Eerattupetta, Kumily, Elappara.
There is a daily KSRTC bus from Kottayam Depot at 4.15 PM which will reach the campus at 8.00 PM. it halts in the campus and start the first trip next day morning from campus itself at 5.50 AM
There are local taxi jeeps and autorikshaws available on call l. Vagamon Campus has college buses, 10 seater cab and an Innova car available on payment basis for student group travel on special cases.
Trivandrum campus has two buses and an Innova car.
29What about the residential areas for boys and girls?
In Vagamon campus, separate hostels are available within the campus for boys and girls and is taken care by. separate security and wardens. Ladies hostels and academic area are interconnected through an overhead passage.
Trivandrum campus is a day scholar campus also, hence students have an option to reside outside at their own convenience. Hostel facility is made available for those who prefer to stay in campus hostel.
We have twin & triple occupancy rooms with tables, chairs, beds and pillows provided with common bathroom facility.
All hostels are provided with TV & DTH facility, heaters, hot water supply and centralized laundry services
30How are the landscaping and aesthetics of the Campuses?
Both the campuses are designed by TM Cyriac’s Environmental Creations, a team that is well known for their eco- friendly projects. The buildings are designed in keeping with the natural landscape and the traditional Kerala architecture
31What is the student development programmes offered in DCSMAT?
Students are given an orientation program at the beginning of the courses and since day one all students are part of the Student ownership program (SOP) under a faculty mentor. All students are part of the ABS – In house training and development program. Placement training and soft skill training is provided. Evening presentation gives opportunity to stand and speak on stage facing a crowd handling several questions. Internships, project work, LMCW are other unique programs along with IBM, SAP training
32How are student internships conducted?
There is Organizational study and Summer Project for MBA each year with interim internships in each semester according to the academic calendar.
33Do students have the opportunity to meet and interact and have an industry exposure with experts of various fields?

34Is there transparency in the Academic activities?
Highest level of transparency is maintained in all academic activities as everything is uploaded in the Moodle software. Schedule is published well in advance.
Examination dates are announced in advance.
Evaluated papers are shown to students.
Internal evaluations are displayed in notice board and students are given an opportunity to clarify their concerns.
There is an online system “DCSMAT Support Center” through which they can represent or make suggestions regarding conduct of exams, internal evaluation, scheduling etc.
35I am poor in English communication and in handling numbers required in mathematics and statistics. Will I find it difficult to cope?
DCSMAT conducts a series of bridge courses in the first ten days to give crash training in weak areas to include English communication and comprehension, accountancy basics, mathematics basics, use of library facilities, and excel training and such other topics.
After that there will be an induction programme spread over five to seven days, to familiarize the students in various aspects of management education.
These two together will take care of any apprehensions that you may have.
A full-time English professor & corporate trainer is available for the students and CESD (COMMUNICATION EMPLOTABILTY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT) classes are provided to students
36Does DCSMAT encourage extracurricular activities?
Yes. We do. We believe that extracurricular activities promote managerial skills in students such as team skills. Leadership skills, organizing ability, time management and so on.
37What are the extracurricular activities apart from academics in DCSMAT?
There are several student managed clubs with faculty coordinator as club in charge; these clubs organize several cultural programs as well as competitions within the campus.
Cluster activities also add academic and non-academic competitiveness.
Social activities through NSS and clubs are well organized.
38Does DCSMAT encourage participation in management festivals of other management colleges?
Yes. It does. We believe that competing with other colleges in management events fosters confidence amongst the students and help to develop managerial skills. In fact, for the last consecutive years DCSMAT has emerged as winners in most number of management festivals in Kerala.
39Does DCSMAT have its own Management Festival?
DCSMAT hosts a management festival named Luminance. Luminance is one of the biggest management festivals organized by any college in Kerala. In Luminance ’13, 1200 students from 85 colleges participated. The event is entirely student managed
40Will there be vacations in DCSMAT residential campus?
Yes, vacations are normally during Onam, Pooja and Christmas. There will be breaks after every 30-45 days based on the academic calendar published each year.
41Can my parents /relatives visit me?
Yes, but with prior approval from concerned authorities
42What are the campus facilities available?
Both campuses are state of the art with modern facilities. Multimedia class rooms, fully equipped library, coffee shop, open air cafeteria, complete wifi connectivity, free internet connectivity, ATM, play area, multi gym, laundry service (Vagamon), guest houses, canteen with north Indian and South Indian cuisine, Radio DC (Trivandrum), mini market (Vagamon), amphitheatre , mobile connectivity, beauty parlour (Vagamon), open air classroom (Vagamon), health care facilities (Vagamon) etc are some of the facilities available.
43Are there medical facilities available in Vagamon?
We have a Doctor-on call. The college has an ambulance, and first aid facilities. There are 2 clinics available in Vagamon (10 kms) and a private hospital in Moolamattam (12 kms). There is also a government hospital near Moolamattam.
44What is a typical day of a DCian like?
A DCian will start the official class sessions at 8.00 AM after breakfast. The first session will begin with news analysis and discussion. The sessions progresses as scheduled. There will be mentoring sessions and training sessions in the evening after 4.00pm. Evening presentation in the DC auditorium by student groups will start at 7.00 PM and goes on till 8.00 PM. Club activities / cultural nights/guest speaker address will extend till 11.00 PM and beyond occasionally; after supper. Students will engage in reading and preparation for the next day, assignments etc afterwards. On Sundays, classes start late by 10.00 AM and most Sundays there will not be any classes when students can do their personal errands.
45Is DCSMAT a ragging free campus?
Yes, completely ragging free and anti ragging committees are effectively functioning at both campuses.
46Is there a dress code followed in DCSMAT?
Decent formals are a must on all working days. Full uniform as prescribed which is provided from college during stipulated days and during major events.
47What does the college canteen provide? Is the mess bill separate? Can the students buy food from other facilities?
In Trivandrum and Vagamon, canteen provides North Indian and South Indian cuisine which the student has to specify in the beginning of the month and should follow throughout the month. Breakfast, lunch, tea with snacks and dinner will be provided. There is a mini market, coffee shop, open air cafeteria available inside the campus (Vagamon). Mess bill is included in the total fees.
48Should I pay the fees in a lump sum while joining?
A registration fee of Rs 25,000 is required to be paid at the time of confirmation of seat and balance of the first year at the time of actual joining or earlier. Students preferring to pay the fee in semester mode have to obtain written permission in advance at the time of joining
49Will I be eligible for a loan?
Yes. Being NAAC Accredited institution, almost all banks recognize our programmes and provide education loans.
Needed documents showing the credentials of the program (MBA) will be provided to those students who apply for education loan. Loan may be availed from any bank in their locality as per eligibility criteria of individual applicant.
50Are there any scholarships / financial support or quotas available?
For MBA, specified scholarships are available for dependents of Defence, PMF, Ex Servicemen, Police etc. from DC Kizhakemuri Foundation. In addition few merit –cum-means scholarships are also available for the common category. For details, contact the Admissions Office.

In the second semester, professional trainers such as Le Mentors of Chennai, Sarvasreshta from Chennai, Dilip Toshar from Pune, The Walnut Kochi, Biju Vithayathil from Ernakulam etc , are engaged every year to enhance the employment skills of the students to include Professional Resume Preparation, Group Discussion, Decision Modelling, Situational Leadership, Logical Reasoning, Neuro Linguistic Programme (communication) etc.
Dining etiquette is a part of personality, So as part of the personality development of our students, DCSMAT included the fine dining as part of the curriculum from the beginning stage itself. Fine dining sessions are provided to teach the students the required rudiments of etiquette and table manners at the Holiday Inn Hotel (5*Deluxe) Cochin.
53What is the status of placement in DCSMAT?
DCSMAT continuously achieved 100% placements in every year with increased compensation. In the last year’s consolidated status, 33 companies recruited from our campus.. The banking and financial services sector hired the highest number of students followed by the information technology companies.
Companies who have recruited from campus till March are Deloitte, KPMG, E&Y, Royal Bank of Scotland, ITC,IBS, Airtel, Vodafone, Benwet, HCL, Reliance Retail, Berger paints, ICIC Bank,EXL, Allianz Cornhill, Federal Bank, HDFC Bank, Eureka forbes, SIB, DBFS, Thyrocare, Mathrubhumi, AKAY Flavours, VKL, Just Dial, HiDesign, ESAF Bank,OYO, ResPupblica Consultancy.
For the current batch, placement season has started and a total of 45 companies are expected to come. Other companies expected to come for this season are Al Essa, Ramco Cements,Godrej Industries, LG Electronics, L&T, HDFC Life, ICICI Securities, Synthite Industries, V-Guard Industries, Colgate Palmolive, Xerox Corporation, TTK Prestige.
54How are placement training programs conducted?
The Corporate relations cell strives to provide the students appropriate placements that leverage their uniqueness and strengths. It also enables the students to discover their passion and area of interests to choose the best career. The office conducts aptitude training, workshops in soft skills and hard skills, mock interviews, and group discussions. The Institute has a consistent placement record, and our alumni are currently in leading corporates.
55What are the external placement training programs?
From a management student’s point of view, meeting the CEO of a company is a great opportunity to learn and build his/her management career. DCSMAT has a unique programme “Meeting with CEO” a small group of students have to meet and interview a CEO to understand the business from a CEO’s perspective. Thereafter they present their experience and analyze their findings vis a vis the conceptual knowledge obtained in classrooms.
Another program “Breakfast with CEO” which provides an opportunity to the students to chat with the CEOs of different companies at the breakfast table followed by an elaborate discussion of his/her experiences as CEO.
Besides the above, a 5 to 7 day external placement training is conducted by reputed firms such as Les Mentors, Chennai. Usually, this training consists of professional resume preparation, aptitude training, training for group discussion and personal interview, Decision Modelling, Situational Leadership, Logical Reasoning, Neuro Linguistic Programme ( communication) etc
56Is there any other training offered as part of placement training?
Yes, DCSMAT offers fine dining training by professionals in the field to equip business students in soft skills required for the multicultural corporate life. Separate sessions for breakfast and dinner are also included. A common session is also there as an introduction to teach the students the required rudiments of etiquette and table manners. The training is conducted in 5* Deluxe hotels in Kerala
57What all are the modules in fine dining training?
The training focuses on – 1. Why Corporate dining? 2. How to choose a good hotel/restaurant? 3. Essentials of good etiquette 4. Essentials of table manners 5. Ways to use cutlery etc.
The training is very well received by the students and they are bound to benefit from this training in their career ahead.

59Is there any International Tie-up ?
Yes. DCSMAT has entered into an international tie up with Valladolid University; the 600-year-old university in Spain for student and faculty exchange and in research and academic area. In addition, the international tie up also facilitates internships for students who prefer to do it outside. The University also offers post MBA management study with scholarships for select students.
60Can I visit the campus before I make a decision?
Yes. Kindly coordinate with the Admissions Office for the visit.

62DCSMAT has a large proportion of girls. What is the reason?
Our Institution is much concerned about the safety of the girl students inside the campus. The following actions are being taken to ensure the safety of girls in the hostel as well as in the campus.
The entire girls’ hostel is enclosed within a compound wall and there is a 24 x 7 security.
No visitors are allowed inside the hostel premises without the proper permission from the concerned authorities and the hostel wardens.
The girl’s hostel main entrance gates are closed and locked at 2100 hrs.
No unauthorized person is allowed to enter inside the hostel premises.
Students whereabouts in/out register maintained by the security guards in the entire hostel under the close and strict supervision of respective hostel wardens.
No outside movement of girls is permitted without the permission of parents.
63How far are the classrooms from girls’ hostel?
We have a covered foot bridge connecting the class rooms with the girls hostel. So the distance is very short.
64Are there any facilities available for hair and facial care in the campus?
Our campus has a well-set beauty parlour which provides the necessary grooming services to the girl students in the campus.
65How many lady wardens are there for the hostel?
We have three lady wardens working 24x7 for our hostel.
66What are the recreational facilities available in the campus?
DCSMAT/DCSAD campus is well-known for its 9 different clubs hosted by the DCians (DC students) itself. We also have a dance studio where the students who are really passionate towards dance come together and we provide them with a professional choreographer. Students of DC also have a musical band which performs every year in various club programmes of the campus.
67Do you have any laundry facilities available in the campus?
We have a separate professional laundry facility with high end sophisticated machinery inside the campus working from 8 AM to 8 PM.
68In the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic how safe is DCSMAT/DCSAD?
It is very safe. Vagamon is an area totally unaffected by COVID 19. DCSMAT campus being a fully self-sufficient campus with all facilities inside, is very safe.

70Are there any coaching classes for BBA / B Com students for career or for higher studies such as MBA?
The students who are willing to start their own ventures will be given support through the incubation centre that functions in the campus. Also, those who want to pursue higher studies after their UG Programme will be offered with free entrance coaching for exams likeKMAT, CMAT etc.
71Are there any internships for B Com / BBA?
The BBA batch students will have to undergo a one month internship during the final semester. The B.Com batch students will have to undergo a one week social project during their final semester. Reports for both have to be prepared and submitted for which there will be internal and external viva. This is as per the norms of the university.
72Do you provide placement support for UG students?
We are offering placement training to all the final year students. The training program comprises of personality development, evening presentations, orientation and soft skill development program by senior external trainers, breakfast and coffee with CEO's as well as fine dining training program at a 5 star hotel.
73Do you organise any meetings with parents and students?
We organise parent - teachers meeting for all the batch students in each semester.
74Is there any industrial visits organized for B.Com/BBA Batches?
There are three industrial visits being organised for the B.Com/BBA students. First two visits shall be during the second year and the third in the final year.
