Indu Sathyendran

Indu Sathyendran is an architect, artist and designer, with over 14 years of experience in private practice and also in academics. She specialises in the conservation of historic buildings and sites and is a keen architecture historian as well. Having completed her undergraduate degree from Manipal Institute of Technology

in 2006, Indu started her career with renowned conservation architect Abha Narain Lambha in Mumbai where she was part of the team responsible for the restoration of several iconic buildings and historic sites across India.

She then moved to the UK to pursue a Masters degree in Historic Building Conservation at the University of Bath. She worked in the UK as a conservation architect for over four years at Peregrine Bryant Architecture & Conservation, one of the top conservation and restoration firms in the country. She later moved to Kerala, where she continued her passion for architecture, conservation, product design and art direction.

For the past five years she taught at BGS School of Planning and Architecture, Bengaluru where she has been a part of various design studios, including Thesis and Urban Design studios as well as theory subjects such as History of Architecture. Indu is also a keen traveller and photographer. She currently runs her own practice – Niram Atelier, based in Trivandrum.
