Activity   : Brick wall building

Objectives:

  1. To provide management students with practical project management experience.
  2. To foster teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
  3. To demonstrate the application of management principles in a real-world construction project.
  4. To develop problem-solving skills through addressing real-time challenges that arise during construction.
  5. To develop students’ skills in time management, scheduling, and meeting project deadlines effectively.
  6. To teach management students how to efficiently allocate resources, including labour, time, and materials, to complete the project within the planned budget and timeline.
 

Teams: 8 team Each consist of 6 students

Course outcome:

  1. Students gain practical experience in applying management principles and techniques to a real-world construction project.
  2. The project fosters leadership skills, emphasizing the role of management in guiding and coordinating a diverse team.
  3. Students acquire hands-on experience in project management, covering planning, execution, and completion phases.
  4. Effective teamwork, communication, and collaboration are promoted among students, mirroring their importance in management.
  5. Efficient resource allocation, including labour, materials, and time, is taught to meet project goals within budget and schedule.

 

Overview:

A group of management students recently completed a brick wall building project that not only added a functional structure to the institution’s premises but also served as a hands-on educational experience in project management, teamwork, and leadership. The project’s objectives included practical application of management skills, leadership development, project management experience, and the creation of a durable structure. Students were actively involved in various phases of the project, learning to manage resources, budgets, schedules, and quality control. The completed brick wall stands as a testament to the students’ practical skills and serves as an emblem of their achievements. Safety and risk management were also emphasized, enhancing students’ awareness of safety measures in construction. This project underscores the potential for students to engage in project management and practical experiences, enriching their educational journey and preparing them for future management roles.

Activity:

Step:1

The students were divided in to 8 team and each consist of 6 students

Each team was given a paper showing the pattern on which the wall must be built. Bricks were provided for building the wall for each team.

Step:2

Each team is given 5 min for building the brick wall of 6m height and 5m breath. With in the specified time each team should carry the brick and build the wall.

After the completion of the assigned task the measurement of the wall built by each team is measured for analysing the efficiency and effectiveness of each team.

the brick wall construction project undertaken by a group of management students stands as a testament to the power of experiential learning and practical application of management skills. This endeavor not only provided students with hands-on experience in project management but also fostered teamwork, leadership development, and a heightened sense of safety awareness. The completed brick wall, a functional and aesthetically pleasing addition to the institution’s premises, represents the students’ achievements and showcases their ability to apply management principles in a real-world context.
