Roles and responsibilities of an Institutional Risk Assessment Committee (IRAC):

  • Identify potential risks across financial, operational, strategic, reputational, and compliance domains.

  • Evaluate the likelihood and impact of risks, and prioritize them based on their severity and the institution’s risk tolerance.

  • Develop strategies and action plans to minimize risks, and recommend controls, policies, or practices to address vulnerabilities.

  • Establish, review, and approve risk management policies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Continuously monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and provide regular updates to senior leadership or the governing board.

  • The meetings can be conducted on need basis and it is mandatory to conduct meetings prior to every program.

  • The coordinator must prepare the meeting minutes and present the report duly signed by every member to the IQAC within 15 days after the meetings.
