Roles and responsibilities of an Institutional Risk Assessment Committee (IRAC):
Identify potential risks across financial, operational, strategic, reputational, and compliance domains.
Evaluate the likelihood and impact of risks, and prioritize them based on their severity and the institution’s risk tolerance.
Develop strategies and action plans to minimize risks, and recommend controls, policies, or practices to address vulnerabilities.
Establish, review, and approve risk management policies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulations, and industry best practices.
Continuously monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and provide regular updates to senior leadership or the governing board.
The meetings can be conducted on need basis and it is mandatory to conduct meetings prior to every program.
The coordinator must prepare the meeting minutes and present the report duly signed by every member to the IQAC within 15 days after the meetings.
