Introduction

Paper bag making is an engaging and eco-conscious craft that provides students with a unique opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills while actively contributing to environmental sustainability. This course seeks to introduce students to the art of paper bag making, encompassing its objectives, course outcomes, steps to be followed, benefits, and conclusions. Through this exploration, students not only acquire practical skills but also gain a deeper understanding of the pivotal role they can play in shaping a greener, more environmentally responsible future

Objectives:

Skill Development: The primary objective of this course is to enable students to acquire practical skills in paper bag making. They will learn the techniques involved in designing, cutting, and folding paper to create functional and aesthetically pleasing bags. Environmental Awareness: The course also aims to raise students’ awareness of environmental issues and the importance of reducing plastic waste. Through paper bag making, they will understand the ecological benefits of using biodegradable and recyclable materials. Creativity and Design: Students will have the opportunity to express their creativity and design skills as they craft unique paper bags. This objective encourages artistic exploration and fosters innovative thinking.

Course Outcome:

Proficiency in Paper Bag Making: Students will be able to design and create paper bags of various sizes and styles.Environmental Consciousness: Students will develop a better understanding of the environmental impact of their choices and be motivated to make sustainable decisions. Steps to be followed:

  • Step I

Materials Selection: Begin by choosing the type of paper that suits the purpose of the bag. Newspapers were provided to the students for this purpose. (Discuss the environmental benefits of paper over plastic.)

  • Step II

Design and Planning: Students should sketch out their bag designs, considering size, shape, and handles. This step encourages creative thinking.

  • Step III

Cutting and Folding: Teach the students how to cut the paper according to the design and fold it into the desired bag shape.

  • Step IV

Decoration: Encourage students to decorate their bags using various techniques, such as drawing, painting, or adding personalized messages.

  • Step V

Quality Assurance: Ensure that the bags are sturdy and functional. Assess their ability to carry a reasonable amount of weight
