Course overview
The four-year long program is an immersive experience that integrates coordinated experiential and explorative learning in order to achieve a high degree of imaginative development that addresses the latest aesthetic and conceptual challenges in product, interface and spatial design. A collaborative learning environment at the school enables students acquire professional design skills besides fostering teamwork and leadership.

Careers –
Product Design:
Product Designers can seek creative and highly rewarding employment opportunities in India and across the globe working with lifestyle products and accessories, consumer products, automobile/transportation design, packaging design and graphic design.
User Experience Design:
UXD professionals provide user experiences that add value through their design. The ambit of experience design includes Interaction Design, User Interface (UI) Design, User Research,Information Architecture and Usability Analysis. Students could also pursue careers in the creation of engaging and immersive experiences in Extended Reality (AR, VR, MR) applications.
Spatial Design:
Spatial Designers work on interior/exterior design projects, exhibition design and visual merchandising. Students with the contextual aptitude could opt to work with 3D spatial simulation and visualisation.

The course is conducted by professionals from the design industry in DC School’s suburban city campus in Trivandrum, equipped with spacious studios, an exhaustive library and a state of the art computer lab.The faculty comprises highly experienced professionals with excellent academic backgrounds from prestigious institutions across India, along with extensive industry experience.

Eligibility criteria
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) conducted by the Board of HSE Kerala or examination equivalent as approved by KTU with the minimum marks as prescribed by AICTE, are eligible to apply for the entrance examination. (At least 45% marks in the qualifying examination, 40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or should have passed D.Voc. stream in the same or allied sector.(Ref: AICTE Approval Process Hand Book 2024-27, Section:8.2, IV, Page No:119). Rounding off percentage of marks to the nearest higher integer is not
permitted.
Key Features
The four-year B.Des course of at DCSAAD, Trivandrum creates scope for integrating coordinated experiential and explorative learning in order to achieve high degree of inventive development, addressing the latest challenges, theoretical and practical problem-solving in a functional manner. The course is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the college is affiliated to APJ ABDUL KALAM technological University, otherwise known as Kerala Technological University.

UI/UX Design
The UI and UX specialization at DCSAAD provide a comprehensive objectivized training that points to integrate a well-rounded instruction in interaction design. Students will acquire knowledge in an assortment topics, including UCD, UX research, UI design, usability engineering, physical computing, AR/VR, and AI&ML for UX. The program is structured to prepare students with the critical knowledge to become competent interaction architects.
Interior/ Spatial Design
Spatial design conceptualises functional and aesthetic layouts in wide range of end user functionalities overarching traditional design areas such as building and landscape architecture, landscape design, interior design, urban design and service design. Spatial Designers work on interior/exterior design projects, exhibition design and visual merchandising. Students with the contextual aptitude could opt to work with 3D spatial simulation and visualisation as well.
Product Design
The Product Design specialization at DCSAAD confronts and addresses challenges related to the design evolution of a wide range of products, services and experiences. The discipline encourages students to research and learn about the basics of design, knowledge of ergonomics and to deal with wide range of materials and fabricating strategies as well as exploring and finding their own aesthetic style.

The Capital Campus
DCSMAT Trivandrum is set amidst a 72 acre expansive plot of KINFRA Film & Video Park, near Trivandrum. The state of the art infrastructure of KINFRA campus is inclusive of an open air theatre, conference halls and guest houses. The campus has dedicated power and water supply and advanced communication facilities. It also has food courts, a mini-conference hall, shooting locales, exhibition areas and preview theatres. Being in the vicinity of Technopark and major IT companies, the campus is in the centre of a business environment. KINFRA also has the Ernst & Young offices and a host of top-notch post production studios. The iconic Sainik School is situated adjacent to the DCSMAT campus.
