Curriculum Objective

The learning goals in the B.Des program enable our students gain an understanding the cultural, social, and technological developments aligned to their individual professional areas of interest. Through the entire duration of the course, regular workshops are conducted and students get to exhibit the best of their project work, boosting their confidence. Industry visits are conducted frequently, providing students with vital exposure to benchmarked aesthetic standards and state of the art production platforms.

   Overview – 

The four-year long program is an immersive experience that integrates coordinated experiential and explorative learning in order to achieve a high degree of imaginative development that addresses the latest aesthetic and conceptual challenges in product, interface and spatial design. A collaborative learning environment at the school enables students acquire professional design skills besides fostering teamwork and leadership. 

The course, conducted by experienced professionals and visionaries in design, is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University also known as Kerala Technological University.

* Product Designers can seek creative and highly rewarding employment opportunities in India and across the globe working with lifestyle products and accessories, consumer products, automobiles and transportation design, packaging and graphic design.

* UXD professionals provide user experiences that add value through their design. The ambit of experience design includes Interaction Design, User Interface (UI) Design, User Research,Information Architecture and Usability Analysis. Students could also pursue careers in the creation of engaging and immersive experiences in Extended Reality (AR, VR, MR) applications.

* Spatial Designers work on  interior/exterior design projects, exhibition design and visual merchandising. Students with the contextual aptitude could opt to work with 3D spatial simulation and visualisation.

UI/UX Design

The UI and UX specialisations at DCSAAD provide a comprehensive learning that creates professional interaction architects. The program integrates the entire spectrum of design components that create dynamic interaction plans. Students will acquire knowledge in an assortment topics including UCD, UX research, UI design, usability engineering, physical computing, AR/VR, and AI&ML for UX. capable interaction architects.

Interior/ Spatial Design

Spatial design involves the aesthetic and functional design of built environments that human beings live, socialise and work in.  Spatial designers work with the the intangibles and tangibles involved in how spaces feel and consequentially enrich spatial experiences. The spatial design/ Interior design program at DCSAAD encompasses the entire spectrum of technology and craft skills, imagination and problem solving skills involved in the creation of utilitarian and engaging spaces.

Product Design

A product designer essentially  combines art, science, and technology to create tangible products.The product design process involves conceptual ideation and evaluation, developing strategic initiatives that take a product through different stages in its lifecycle – prototyping, testing, modification and commercial production. The product design program at DCAAD takes students through learning the basic principles in design aesthetics and functional ergonomics developing their distinctive design sensibilities.
