The B.Des program extends over 4 years and is an immersive experience that integrates explorative and experiential learning to achieve a high degree of imaginative development in our students. Imaginations that will one day address aesthetic and conceptual challenges in product, interface and spatial design. In our campus’ collaborative learning environment students acquire professional design skills in tandem with teamwork and leadership.
The program is conducted and mentored by experienced teachers and professionals in various design disciplines, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University also known as Kerala Technological University.

Through the entire duration of the course, regular workshops and industry visits are conducted providing students with vital exposure and insights.
The learning goals in the B.Des program enable our students gain an understanding the cultural, social, and technological developments aligned to their individual professional areas of interest. Through the entire duration of the course, regular workshops are conducted and students get to exhibit the best of their project work, boosting their confidence. Industry visits are conducted frequently, providing students with vital exposure to benchmarked aesthetic standards and state of the art production platforms.
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) conducted by the Board of HSE Kerala or examination equivalent thereto, as approved by KTU with the minimum marks as prescribed by AICTE, are eligible to apply for the entrance examination. (At least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying Examination) or Passed D.Voc. Stream in the same or allied sector. (Ref: AICTE Approval Process Handbook 2024-27, Section:8.2, IV, Page No:119).No rounding off of percentage of marks to the nearest higher integer is permitted.

The UI and UX specialisations at DCSAAD provide a comprehensive learning program that creates professional interaction architects. The program integrates the entire spectrum of design components that create dynamic interaction architecture. Students will acquire knowledge in an assortment topics including UCD, UX research, UI design, usability engineering, physical computing, AR/VR, and AI&ML for UX.
Spatial design is the aesthetic and functional organisation of built environments that human beings live, socialise and work in. Spatial designers work with the intangibles and tangibles related to the feel of spaces, consequentially enriching spatial experiences. The spatial design program at DCSAAD encompasses the entire spectrum of technology and craft skills, imagination and problem solving skills involved in the creation of inclusive, utilitarian spaces.
Product design essentially combines art and technology to create functional, utilitarian products.The design process involves ideation, sequential refinement, mapping strategic pathways to take a product through stages in its lifecycle – prototyping, testing, modification and commercial production. This program at DCSAAD inculcates theoretical principles in design aesthetics and ergonomics in our students to stimulate distinctive design sensibilities in their work.
