Ajeesh Kakkarath

Ar. Ajeesh Kakkarath is an architect and urban planner specialized in housing with over Fifteen years of experience in Academics and Practice. He has done his graduation and Masters from College of Engineering, Trivandrum. He has started his teaching career in McGans Ootty school of Architecture in 2010 and later, has spent a major time of his career as Assistant Professor in Manipal School of Architecture and Plan­ning, Manipal University till 2015. He was working in MG University Kerala in KMEA College of Architecture during 2015-18. Along with his practice, he has been continuously associating with architecture insti­tutions in Kerala and Karnataka. His teaching and research interests include inte­grated urban water management, Industrial ecology, rural development, lndo Aryan and Dravidian history and heritage conservation. During his 15 year teaching span, He has been emphasizing and reinventing an architectural pedagogy focusing on spatial nar­ratives through various foundation studios he has designed. Ar. Ajeesh Kakkarath is currently the academic coordinator at DC School of Architecture and Design Trivandrum. He has won the Innovative Architecture Pedagogy Award in AURA 2024 hosted by Parul university and has been shortlisted to the IIA Kerala State Awards 2024 for the Excellence in studio teaching.
