The Kerala Management Aptitude Test 

The Kerala Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) is a state-level entrance exam conducted for the admission to various postgraduate management programs, mainly Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) courses. The exam is conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Kerala. It serves as a key gateway for students aspiring to pursue management education at top business schools in Kerala. Normally, there will be two exam sessions per year, which falls during February and May, respectively.

Overview of KMAT Kerala

KMAT Kerala is held twice annually, and it is designed to assess the candidates’ proficiency in key areas such as quantitative ability, verbal reasoning, and logical thinking, which are essential for success in business management programs. The test is recognized management institutions across Kerala, which are affiliated to different universities and educational bodies in Kerala.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in any discipline or those who appear for the final year of degree can apply.
  • A minimum aggregate score of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) in the undergraduate degree is usually required.
  • There is no upper age limit.

KMAT Kerala Exam Pattern

The KMAT Kerala exam is a multiple-choice question (MCQ)-based test. The questions will be based on four major topics, i.e. Quantitative Aptitude, English Language Usage and Reading Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs and Data Sufficiency and Logical Reasoning.

The Quantitative Aptitude section will have 50 questions on topics such as Percentage, Time and Work, Pie Chart, Number System, Profit and Loss, Data Interpretation, Simple and Compound Interest, Algebra, etc.

The English Language section will have 50 questions on topics such as Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Para Jumbles, Tenses, etc.

The Data Sufficiency and Logical Reasoning section will have only 40 questions based on topics such as Tables, Graphs, Directions, Data Structures, Series, Puzzles, Coding and Decoding, Clocks and Calendars, etc.

The General Knowledge and Current Affairs sections like the previous section will also have 40 questions on topics such as Sports, Awards and Accolades, Economics, Politics, Culture, Global Current Affairs, Technology, etc.

Allotment of Marks:

The total number of questions in the exam is 180, and each correct answer generally awards 4 marks. There is negative marking for incorrect answers (usually -1 mark per wrong answer), so candidates should be cautious with their responses.
KMAT Kerala application form will be released on the official website in the last week of January 2025, tentatively. The KMAT Kerala application form 2025 will be available on the official website of CEE Kerala. Candidates must know that the application form can be filled out online and there is no option of filling the form offline.
