As part of the second year design studio in the DC School of Architecture and Design, Vagamon, one of the top architecture colleges in Kerala, proposed a residential project for a human and his pet dog. Designing a residence for a person and their dog requires careful consideration of both human and animal needs. Here is an approach to such a project:
The house is planned to provide for a human being and their canine in a comfortable, functional, sustainable manner. The home incorporates materials that are pet-friendly, generous space for the human being and dog to live comfortably, and smooth transitions between outdoor and indoor spaces.
Space for Both: Creating adequate space for both the human being and the dog to live comfortably, such as relaxation, exercise, and play areas.
Sustainable Design: Using sustainable materials, efficient energy systems, and environmentally
friendly practices to minimize the residents environmental footprint.
Pet Area: Designating areas specifically for the dog’s needs, such as a dog bed or play area
